In the Christmas Mood

It’s now one of the familiar events in the run-up to Christmas –  the Jambouree Choir’s festive concert, in St Leonards in the Fields Church. This year the choir, under the expert direction of Edna Auld, present “In the Christmas Mood”  on Sunday the 6th of December at 7pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for schoolchildren, including refreshments at the interval. They can be bought either through the contacts on the Choir Website (jambouree.co.uk) or at the following outlets: St Leonards in the Fields Church on Sundays, Concorde in Scott Street, or Smith Mearns in Charterhouse Lane.

The programme, featuring both the main choir and the Cabaret Singers, will include Carols and Festive songs both religious and secular, some inviting audience participation. John Scrimger’s arrangements enhance many of the items, including “White Christmas”, sung by baritone Kenneth Maciver  and John’s beautiful choral arrangement of “Silent Night”. Moira Duncan is the soloist for “The Most Wonderful Birthday of All’, arranged by Liam Bonthrone, while Liam And Kenneth team up for the ever-popular “O Holy Night”.

Elsewhere the Cabaret Singers Ensemble will present a Christmas Concert in the ballroom of Blair Castle at 7pm on Sunday the 13th of December. Tickets can be booked directly from the Castle. Then, on Sunday the 20th of December, the Cabaret Singers will take part in the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols in St John’s Kirk.
